Alison Petty / Documentary Photographer

Brighton-based photographer, Alison Petty studied Editorial Photography at Brighton University from 1995 to 1998. Alison would describe herself as a documentary photographer, inspired by the work of the Magnum photographers, alongside work by photographer Anton Corbijn.

Alison has spent much of her career documenting bands and musicians from around the world including American artists such as Counting Crows, Nada Surf and Rocco DeLuca.

Alison's current body of work, documenting the Brighton & Hove landscape, reflects her passion for presenting the 'everyday' through her unique vision.

Photographing the interaction that occurs between people, places and nature, Alison seeks to capture moments often unseen by the casual passerby. By not interfering or manipulating the scene in front of her lens, Alison is able to produce images that are an honest and true representation of the landscape in which we live. Alison's photographs have been described as intriguing, evocative, whimsical, and thought-provoking.
